Planned Publication for Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November 2015

Dear Colleague

As has been communicated during our last AGM in Girona, this year’s Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting will be held in Malta in November 2015. This event is not only important for Malta but for us as archivists and in particular for undersigned who has the honour to be the chair of the organisation at a time when my country is holding this event.

In order to commemorate this event, and also to make sure that the archives dimension is given due consideration during this high-level meeting, we have decided to work on an initiative which will end in a published form. The final format of the product is still being discussed.
I am honoured to invite the national archives that you lead be represented in this initiative. We are asking national archivists to send us :
a. a high quality image (minimum 300 dpi) of a document from your archives that you consider to have national importance in your country. A document which is in colour and which can be clearly reproduced even on small surface areas (12 x 8 cms) are preferred;
b. a short caption to be published explaining the content of the document and the bibliographical details (it is imperative all items have an archives reference, dimensions, title and date) (circa 15 words)
c. a longer note in English about the document and its importance for your country (circa 500 words)

Documents are to reach us on the following e-mail address: It is to be accompanied by a declaration stating that the sender has the rights to authorise such an image to be used by the National Archives of Malta in this project. Participating institutions will be given a copy of the final product.
